Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the molasses, hot water, melted butter, and egg until fully blended.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Ensure everything is well combined.
- Gradually pour the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently just until combined. Avoid over-mixing.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the gingerbread cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy.
