Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk Can use milk alternative for lactose-free option.
  • 1 large egg
For Frying
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting Use a light hand to avoid overwhelming flavors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until evenly blended.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  3. In a deep fryer or heavy pot, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
Cooking
  1. Using a piping bag or squeeze bottle, pipe small rounds of the batter directly into the hot oil.
  2. Cook until they are golden brown, approximately 1-2 minutes on each side.
  3. Carefully remove them from the oil and let them drain on paper towels.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar before enjoying them warm.
