  • 4 medium medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced Any type of apple can be used.
  • 3 large large eggs
  • 100 g granulated sugar (1/2 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 250 g all-purpose flour (2 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 200 ml milk (3/4 cup)
  • 50 g unsalted butter, melted (1/4 cup)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting) Don't skip the dusting step.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a round cake pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat together the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until smooth, then fold in the melted butter.
  • Add the sliced apples to the batter and gently fold them in until well coated.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan, spreading evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-50 minutes, or until the cake is set and lightly golden.

Serving

  • Allow to cool before removing from the pan. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

You can serve this cake warm or at room temperature. It is delicious on its own or with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
