Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 or 90/10 for leaner result) Ground beef should reach 160°F for food safety.
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped Use yellow or sweet onion.
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped Optional if picky eaters.
  • 1 cup ketchup Use no-sugar-added ketchup for low-sugar option.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Check for gluten-free if needed.

  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp mustard Yellow or Dijon for a punch.
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • burger buns Toast for better texture if desired.

Method

Cooking Process
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 6–8 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Drain excess fat from the skillet and return to medium heat.
  3. Add chopped onion and green bell pepper and cook, stirring, until softened and translucent, about 4–5 minutes.
  4. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, and mustard. Mix until the meat is fully coated.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens slightly and flavors meld.
  6. Spoon the mixture onto burger buns. Toast buns beforehand for better texture and to prevent sogginess.
