- In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale. Add mascarpone cheese and blend until smooth.
- In another bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
- Mix coffee and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish. Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are moist but not soggy.
- Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and remaining mascarpone mixture.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
Notes
For best results, refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.
