Easy Tiramisu

Ingredients
  

  • 3 large eggs separated
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur optional
  • 24 ladyfingers savoiardi biscuits
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale. Add mascarpone cheese and blend until smooth.
  • In another bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  • Mix coffee and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish. Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are moist but not soggy.
  • Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  • Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes

For best results, refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.
