Ingredients

Peach Mixture
  • 6 pieces fresh peaches, peeled and sliced Choose ripe peaches for the best flavor.
  • 0.5 cups sugar (for tossing peaches) This helps to release the peaches' juices.
Batter
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter Melted.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Can substitute with almond extract for variation.
  • 0.5 cups sugar (for topping) Sprinkled on top for a caramelized crust.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced peaches with half a cup of sugar, allowing their natural juices to emerge.
  3. In a separate bowl, melt the butter. Then mix in the flour, milk, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish to create a perfect base.
  2. Gently spoon the peach mixture over the batter, but do not stir!
  3. Finish by sprinkling the remaining sugar on top.
  4. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling underneath.
