Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1/2 lb steak, sliced against the grain into long strips For the best tenderness, slice the steak against the grain.
  • 2 packets ramen noodles (spice packets removed) Use your favorite ramen brand.
  • 1/2 head broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets Fresh broccoli is recommended for optimal texture.
  • 1/4 onion sliced into medium layers Yellow or white onion works best.
Sauce Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce Adjust to taste if you prefer less salt.
  • 1/3 cup honey Can substitute with maple syrup for a different sweetness.
  • 1 tsp minced ginger Fresh ginger adds more flavor than powdered.
  • 2 tsp minced garlic Feel free to adjust based on your garlic preference.
  • 3/4 cup beef broth Ensure it's low-sodium if you're watching sodium intake.
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch Used for thickening the sauce.
  • 1 tbsp water To mix with cornstarch.
  • 1 tbsp oil (for cooking) Can use vegetable or canola oil.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, and beef broth. Set aside.
  2. In another small bowl, combine the cornstarch and water, mixing until smooth. Set aside.
Cooking
  1. Follow the package directions to cook the ramen noodles, but leave out the spice packets. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a large fry pan or wok over medium-high heat. When hot, add the steak and sauté until it starts to brown, stirring constantly.
  3. Once the beef is about halfway cooked, add the sliced onions and stir for a few more minutes until the onions are tender.
  4. Add the broccoli, sautéing until it's bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Add the cooked ramen noodles, mixing well, followed by the prepared sauce. Stir to combine thoroughly.
  6. Pour in the cornstarch mixture and stir while the sauce thickens. After a couple of minutes, everything should be coated beautifully.
Serving
  1. Garnish with sesame seeds and a dash of sesame oil if desired, and enjoy!
