Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced Use ripe, in-season peaches for best flavor.
  • 1 cup sugar Divided, 1/2 cup for filling and 1/2 cup for batter.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Can add more for extra spice.
For the Batter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute half with whole wheat flour for healthier option.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Acts as a leavening agent.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1 cup milk Use whole or low-fat milk.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Can also use margarine.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, toss the sliced peaches with 1/2 cup of sugar and the ground cinnamon. Pour them into a greased baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Pour in the milk and melted butter, stirring gently until everything is just combined.
  5. Pour the batter over the peaches in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Baking
  1. Place it in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly.
  2. Serve warm, optionally topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
