Ingredients

For the marinade
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest Alternatively, lime zest can be used.
Main ingredients
  • 4 pieces boneless and skinless chicken breasts (about 6 ounces each)

Method

Marinating
  1. In a ziplock bag, combine the chicken breasts with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, black pepper, salt, and lemon zest. Squeeze to coat the chicken thoroughly, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.
Grilling
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high and oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  2. Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard any excess. Grill the chicken for 5-7 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature; it should be at least 165°F. If not, continue grilling for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a plate, cover with foil, and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
