Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the German chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
  3. Fold in the chopped pecans and shredded coconut.
  4. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until creamy and smooth.
  5. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the batter.
  7. Pour the remaining cake batter on top and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
