  • 1 cup Dr Pepper soda Can use diet version for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional) For extra chocolatey goodness.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the Dr Pepper, sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, stirring in the vanilla extract afterward.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually stir the dry mixture into the Dr Pepper blend until everything is well integrated.
  6. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey treat.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into squares for serving.
