For the Filling
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened) Make sure it's at room temperature for smooth mixing.
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ cup sugar For the cream cheese mixture.
  • Canned as needed strawberry pie filling You can substitute with other fruit fillings.
For the Pies
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crust Use store-bought for convenience.
For the Glaze
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon water Adjust for desired consistency.

Preparation
  1. Fill a heavy Dutch oven or a pot with vegetable oil to about 4-5 inches deep, and heat to 375°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine ½ teaspoon of vanilla, ¼ cup of sugar, and the softened cream cheese. Blend until smooth.
  3. Roll out the refrigerated pie crust and cut out six 5-6 inch rounds.
  4. Place 1 tablespoon of cream cheese filling and 2 tablespoons of strawberry pie filling in the center of each round.
  5. Brush edges with water, fold over, and crimp to seal.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, corn syrup, and water to create the glaze.
Cooking
  1. Carefully deep fry each pie for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  3. Glaze both sides of each pie and place on a cooling rack.
