Decadent Chocolate Cobbler

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 7 tablespoons cocoa powder divided
  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar divided
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 1/2 cups hot tap water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, 3 tablespoons cocoa, and 3/4 cup white sugar. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Pour batter into an ungreased 8-inch square baking dish.
  • In a separate small bowl, mix together the remaining 1/2 cup white sugar, brown sugar, and 4 tablespoons cocoa. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
  • Pour hot water over the top, but do not stir.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is set and the cobbler is bubbly.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
