Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Create a breading station with three shallow dishes: In the first dish, add the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt. In the third dish, combine breadcrumbs with grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Dredge each chicken breast first in the flour, shaking off any excess, then dip into the beaten eggs. Finally, coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture.
Cooking
- Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.
- Spoon the marinara sauce evenly over the chicken. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Top with fresh basil leaves before serving.
- Serve alongside cooked pasta if desired for a complete meal.
