  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch Omit for softer texture

  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Adjust according to preference
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg Freshly grated is best
  • 1 tablespoon Butter Fully melted for smoothness
  • 2 tablespoons Dark Rum Optional, or substitute with more vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered Pectin For jam-like consistency, optional

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the eggnog, sugar, and cornstarch over medium heat. Stir until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Add the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Continue stirring until everything is well blended.
  3. Gradually add the melted butter and stir until absorbed into the mixture.
  4. If using dark rum, slowly stir it in now to incorporate the flavor.
  5. If you'd like a thicker consistency, sprinkle in the powdered pectin while stirring until completely dissolved.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the spread cool to room temperature before transferring to a jar.
