Method
Prepare the Broccoli
- If using fresh broccoli, steam it until just tender and bright green, about 3-4 minutes. If using frozen, just thaw and drain.
Make the Cheese Sauce
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to remove the raw taste.
- Slowly add the heavy cream and milk, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens (about 3-5 minutes).
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and pepper.
- Remove from heat and fold in the shredded cheddar and Parmesan until fully melted.
Assemble the Casserole
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the broccoli with the cheese sauce. Toss until well coated.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs with olive oil, then sprinkle over the top of the casserole.
Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until bubbling and golden on top.

Notes
