Ingredients

For the filling

  • 450 g fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined Make sure the shrimp are fresh for the best taste.
  • 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • 60 g mozzarella cheese, shredded You can use different types of cheese for new flavors.
  • 15 g fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Don’t skip the garlic; it adds wonderful flavor.

For the bread

  • 1 loaf crusty Italian bread You can substitute with any crusty bread, such as French bread or baguette.
  • 60 ml unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preparation

  • Chop the shrimp into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a large bowl, combine the shrimp, softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, chopped parsley, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly until well blended.
  • Slice the Italian bread loaf in half lengthwise and carefully hollow out the center of each half, leaving enough bread around the edges to support the filling.

Cooking

  • Distribute the seafood mixture evenly between the hollowed bread halves, gently pressing the filling into each cavity.
  • Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Brush the outside of each bread half with melted butter.
  • Wrap the bread tightly in aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes on a baking tray.
  • After 15 minutes, remove the foil and return the bread halves to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crisp.

Serving

  • Allow the bread to cool for a few minutes, slice into portions, and serve warm.
