  • 1 pound ground beef You can substitute with ground turkey or chicken if desired.
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 2 cups brown gravy Preferably homemade for extra flavor.
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes Make it creamy using butter and milk.
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded Add more if desired.
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, making sure to drain any excess fat after browning.
  3. Add the chopped onion, diced carrots, and celery to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, usually about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the brown gravy and season generously with salt and pepper, adjusting to your taste.
  5. Transfer this delicious meat mixture to a baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Spoon the creamy mashed potatoes on top of the meat, smoothing it out with a spatula for an even layer.
  7. Generously sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden on top.
  9. Allow it to cool slightly before serving to avoid any burns!
