Ingredients
  

For the custard
  • 1 unbaked unbaked pie crust Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup sugar Can adjust to taste for sweetness
  • 6 large eggs At room temperature
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg For custard mixture
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups whole milk At room temperature
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly spray a 9 1/2-inch pie pan with nonstick spray.
  3. Place the unbaked pie crust in the pan, pressing the dough firmly against the sides.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat together the sugar, eggs, nutmeg, and vanilla until well combined.
  5. Slowly add the milk, whisking until smooth.
  6. Pour this mixture into the prepared pie shell.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining nutmeg lightly over the custard.
  8. Bake for approximately 45 minutes or until set, covering edges with foil if they brown too much.
  9. The pie is done when the center is slightly jiggly and a knife inserted comes out clean.
  10. Chill the pie in the refrigerator before serving for best taste.
