Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure it's at room temperature.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Garnish
  • as needed Fresh berries Optional, for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Baking
  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  2. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
