  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups milk Can substitute with almond milk for dairy-free version.
  • 2 large eggs Best at room temperature.
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
Cinnamon Filling
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup nuts Optional.
Glaze
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4-5 tbsp milk For desired consistency.
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Mix to distribute evenly.
  3. Add the milk, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix!
  4. Gently fold in the melted butter until the mixture is smooth, then pour it into the prepared pan.
Cinnamon Swirl
  1. In a separate bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and optional nuts to create the filling.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of this filling over the batter and use a knife to swirl it into the cake.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  2. While the cake is baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze.
  3. Once out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over the warm cake, letting it soak in.
  4. Allow it to cool slightly before slicing and enjoying.
