Preparation
- Cut off the crusts from each slice of bread and flatten them slightly with a rolling pin.
- Spread about a tablespoon of Cajeta onto each slice of flattened bread.
- Carefully roll each piece of bread from one end to the other, creating a tight roll. Set aside.
Cooking
- In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Heat the butter in a large sauté pan over medium heat until it’s melted and bubbling.
- Dip each bread roll in the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are coated.
- Place the rolls in the hot butter, allowing them to cook until golden brown on all sides, approximately 2 minutes per side.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Once cooked, roll each French toast roll in the cinnamon sugar until well-coated.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the sweet, gooey goodness!
Notes
These roll-ups are best served warm. Consider drizzling more Cajeta on top or pairing with fresh fruit. They can also be reheated without losing crispness.
