Candied Oranges
  • 3 large oranges Opt for organic oranges for better flavor.
  • 2 cups sugar Used for making the simple syrup.
  • 2 cups water Used to create the simple syrup.
Chocolate Coating

  1. Slice the oranges into thin rounds, about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a gentle boil, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Add the orange slices to the syrup and simmer gently for about 45 minutes or until they become translucent.
  4. Remove the orange slices from the syrup and place them on a cooling rack to cool completely.
Coating
  1. Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler until smooth.
  2. Dip half of each orange slice into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off.
  3. Place the dipped slices on parchment paper and let the chocolate harden completely before serving.
