Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter Room temperature
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 teaspoons maraschino cherry juice
Add-ins
  • 1 jar maraschino cherries Stems removed and blotted dry
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Can use dark chocolate chips for richer flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well incorporated.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the maraschino cherries, chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and cherry juice.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
