Ingredients
  

  • 1 18.25 ounce package devil's food cake mix
  • 1 21 ounce can cherry pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • cup milk
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the devil's food cake mix, cherry pie filling, almond extract, and 2 eggs by hand; stir until well blended. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool the cake in the pan.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine the white sugar, butter, and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in the semisweet chocolate chips until smooth.
  5. Immediately pour the chocolate mixture over the partially cooled cake. Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
