Ingredients

  • 1 18.25 ounce package devil's food cake mix
  • 1 21 ounce can cherry pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • cup milk
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the devil's food cake mix, cherry pie filling, almond extract, and 2 eggs by hand; stir until well blended. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool the cake in the pan.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the white sugar, butter, and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in the semisweet chocolate chips until smooth.
  • Immediately pour the chocolate mixture over the partially cooled cake. Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
