  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh or frozen broccoli can be used
  • 1 cup orzo pasta This dish can also work with other small pasta shapes
  • 3 cups chicken broth Low-sodium broth is recommended
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated Freshly grated will give the best flavor
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Optional for extra creaminess
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For sautéing the sausage
  • to taste salt and pepper Adjust seasoning according to preference

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the broccoli and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  4. Add the orzo and chicken broth, then bring to a boil.
Cooking
  1. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer until orzo is tender, about 10-12 minutes.
  2. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and optional heavy cream.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
