Ingredients
  

For the Dumplings
  • 2 cups Flour (all-purpose) All-purpose flour works best.
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (unsalted) Cut into flour mixture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt Add more to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Add more to taste.
  • 1 cup Milk About a cup, or a touch less.
For the Broth
  • 6-8 cups Chicken Broth Use homemade for richer flavor.
  • 3 cups Cooked Chicken Shredded or cubed.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, garlic salt, and pepper.
  2. Cut the butter into the dry ingredients using a fork or pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually stir in the milk and mix with a fork until a dough forms.
  4. Lightly flour a work surface. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into roughly 2"x2" squares.
  5. Place the dumplings on a floured plate, dusting flour between layers.
Cooking
  1. Bring the chicken broth to a boil. Drop the dumplings in gradually while stirring gently.
  2. Allow to cook for about 15-20 minutes or until they are not doughy anymore.
  3. Add the cooked chicken to the pot with more garlic salt and pepper. Let it cook for a final five minutes.
  4. Serve the dish warm in large bowls.
