  • 1 box 1 box of scalloped potatoes
  • 1 lb 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can 1 can of cream of potato soup
  • 1 pack 1 pack of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional seasonings (e.g., garlic powder, paprika)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven according to the scalloped potatoes package instructions.
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion and any seasonings you prefer until the meat is browned. Drain the excess fat.

Assembly

  • In a baking dish, layer the contents starting with half of the scalloped potatoes mix, then half of the cooked hamburger mixture.
  • Pour half of the cream of potato soup over this layer and sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining scalloped potatoes, beef, soup, and top with shredded cheese.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake in the oven for the time indicated on the potatoes package.
  • Remove the foil in the last 10 minutes of cooking to allow the cheese to brown. Serve hot.

Notes

Serve this dish hot right from the oven. It pairs well with a simple green salad or some steamed vegetables on the side for a balanced meal. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for about 3 to 4 days. You can reheat it in the microwave or oven. You can add extra veggies like peas or corn to make it even heartier. Make sure to drain the beef well to avoid extra grease in the dish. Use a combination of cheese for more flavor, like mozzarella mixed with cheddar.
