  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 lb ground hamburger (cooked and drained)
  • 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 4 medium potatoes (diced, about 1 pound)
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 5 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 jalapeño (finely diced, optional)
  • 12 ounces Velveeta cheese (cubed)
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 6 slices bacon (cooked and chopped)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small cup, mix the chicken broth with flour until smooth.
  2. Place the cooked hamburger, garlic, carrots, potatoes, onion, celery, Worcestershire sauce, butter, milk, cream, paprika, and jalapeño in the slow cooker. Stir everything together until well combined.
  3. Pour the chicken broth mixture over the contents in the slow cooker and stir gently.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it to high for 3 hours or low for 5 hours. Cooking times may vary by model, so keep an eye on the potatoes.
  5. Once the potatoes are tender, add the cubed Velveeta cheese and let it melt into the soup.
  6. Finally, stir in the sour cream and cooked bacon. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.
