Ingredients
  

For the Blondies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Melted for mixing.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature is preferable.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sifted.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup toasted pecans, chopped Optional, can substitute with nuts of choice.

For the Brown Sugar Frosting

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Fold in the butterscotch chips and chopped pecans.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the greased baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Frosting

  • While the blondies bake, make the brown sugar frosting. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine softened butter, brown sugar, and heavy cream. Stir until smooth and let it boil for 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Gradually whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.

Serving

  • Once the blondies have cooled completely, spread the frosting over the top. Cut into squares and enjoy!
