Ingredients
  

For the cupcakes
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Use a store-bought mix or your favorite homemade recipe.
  • 3 large eggs Make sure they are at room temperature.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
For the frosting and decoration
  • 1 can cream cheese frosting (16 oz)
  • to taste red food coloring For brain design.
  • to taste green food coloring
  • to taste chocolate syrup or melted chocolate For additional decoration.

Method
 

Preparation and Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Stir until smooth and well-combined.
  3. Pour the batter into each cupcake liner, filling them about 2/3 full.
  4. Bake for 18-22 minutes, checking for doneness by inserting a toothpick.
  5. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely in the pan before frosting.
Frosting and Decoration
  1. Separate the cream cheese frosting into two bowls. Add red food coloring to one and green to the other, mixing well.
  2. Frost each cupcake generously with cream cheese frosting.
  3. Use the red frosting to create a 'brain' design on top of each cupcake.
  4. Drizzle chocolate syrup or melted chocolate on top for an eerie touch.
