Equipment

  • - Saucepan for cooking the blueberry mixture
  • - Cup or small bowl for mixing cornstarch with water

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the blueberries, 1/4 cup of water, orange juice, and sugar. Stir gently and bring to a boil.
  • In a cup or small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and 1/4 cup cold water. Gently stir the cornstarch mixture into the blueberries to avoid mashing the berries.
  • Simmer gently until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a metal spoon, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the almond extract and cinnamon.
  • If the sauce is too thick for your liking, you can thin it out with a little water.
  • Your delicious Blueberry Sauce is ready to be served! You can enjoy it over pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or any other dessert of your choice.

Notes

- Use fresh or frozen blueberries for this sauce, depending on availability.
- Be careful not to mash the blueberries when stirring in the cornstarch mixture.
- Adjust the thickness of the sauce by adding water if needed to achieve the desired consistency.
