Ingredients
  

For the Blackberry Margarita
  • 1.5 oz Tequila
  • 0.5 oz Triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 oz Blackberry simple syrup Use homemade syrup prepared earlier.
  • 1-2 tablespoons Blackberries – pureed
  • 1/3 cup Sugar Half for the blackberry puree and the rest for the syrup.
  • to taste Margarita salt or sugar for the rim Optional; for rimming the glass.
  • Ice Ice For shaking and serving.
  • 1 Lime for garnish
For the Blackberry Simple Syrup
  • 3/4 cup Blackberries
  • 1/3 cup Sugar For making the syrup.
  • 1 cup Water

Method
 

Prepare Blackberry Puree
  1. In a blender, combine 1/4 cup of fresh blackberries with 1/4 cup of sugar and blend until smooth. Set aside.
Make Blackberry Simple Syrup
  1. In a small pot, add 3/4 cup of blackberries, 1/3 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of water.
  2. Bring to a boil, then let it simmer for about 10 minutes, occasionally smashing the berries with a potato masher.
  3. Allow it to cool before straining the syrup into a bowl. Store it in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
Assemble the Cocktail
  1. Prepare your glassware by pouring 1 tablespoon of simple syrup onto a plate and dip the rim of your glass into it, then coat in margarita salt.
  2. Fill the glass with ice, leaving about 3/4 of the glass full.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, triple sec (or Cointreau), and blackberry simple syrup. Shake well to combine.
  4. Slowly pour the cocktail mix into your prepared glass over the ice.
  5. Top with the pureed blackberries and give it a gentle stir.
  6. Garnish with a fresh lime wheel and enjoy!

Notes

Store leftover blackberry simple syrup in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Assembled margaritas are best enjoyed fresh to retain the bright flavors.
