Ingredients
Method
Prepare Blackberry Puree
- In a blender, combine 1/4 cup of fresh blackberries with 1/4 cup of sugar and blend until smooth. Set aside.
Make Blackberry Simple Syrup
- In a small pot, add 3/4 cup of blackberries, 1/3 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of water.
- Bring to a boil, then let it simmer for about 10 minutes, occasionally smashing the berries with a potato masher.
- Allow it to cool before straining the syrup into a bowl. Store it in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
Assemble the Cocktail
- Prepare your glassware by pouring 1 tablespoon of simple syrup onto a plate and dip the rim of your glass into it, then coat in margarita salt.
- Fill the glass with ice, leaving about 3/4 of the glass full.
- In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, triple sec (or Cointreau), and blackberry simple syrup. Shake well to combine.
- Slowly pour the cocktail mix into your prepared glass over the ice.
- Top with the pureed blackberries and give it a gentle stir.
- Garnish with a fresh lime wheel and enjoy!
Notes
Store leftover blackberry simple syrup in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Assembled margaritas are best enjoyed fresh to retain the bright flavors.
