Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Ensure proper measurement to avoid dry cookies.
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature butter for best results.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract Can be replaced with peppermint extract for variation.
  • 3 tbsp sour cream
Decoration
  • 1/2 cup colored sprinkles or sugar crystals For decoration on top of cookies.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set this mixture aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and sour cream until well combined.
  5. Gently stir in the dry ingredients until just blended, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Lightly flatten each dough ball and top with colorful sprinkles or crystals.
Baking
  1. Bake for 8–10 minutes, checking until the edges are lightly golden and centers are still soft.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
