Ingredients

For the Berry Filling
  • 6 cups mixed berries (frozen or fresh) Feel free to substitute based on preference.
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 5 tablespoons granulated sugar
For the Cobbler Topping
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (for a 9×13 cake)
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup milk

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, and sugar until well combined.
  3. Add your berries to the baking dish and sprinkle the flour mixture over them, stirring to coat the berries evenly.
Baking
  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and milk to form a thick batter.
  2. Dollop the batter over the berries and spread it gently, ensuring it doesn’t need to be perfectly even.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 55 to 60 minutes or until the top is bubbly and golden brown. If the top begins to brown too quickly, cover it with foil.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best results, try using a combination of fresh and frozen berries. Avoid over-mixing your batter—just combine until moistened to ensure a tender topping. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
