  • 3 pieces ripe bananas The riper, the better!
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Forms the base of your bread.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda For that perfect rise.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt To enhance the flavors.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Granulated or brown sugar.
  • 1 large egg For binding the ingredients together.
  • 1/3 cup butter Melted for rich flavor, can substitute with oil.
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts Walnuts or pecans work beautifully.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional for added flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Optional for extra flavor boost.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter and mix well.
  4. Add the sugar, egg, and vanilla (if using) to the banana mixture and combine.
  5. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  7. Fold in the chopped nuts gently.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  2. Let cool for about 10 minutes before transferring the bread to a wire rack to cool completely.
