Equipment

  • Large Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 onion, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

For Marinara Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, finely chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the Italian sausage, ground beef, Panko breadcrumbs, minced onion, minced garlic, milk, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, eggs, kosher salt, and black pepper. Gently mix the ingredients together with your hands until just combined. Use a small cookie scoop for consistent portioning and roll the mixture into slightly over 1-inch meatballs. Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet as you roll them. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
  • While the meatballs are baking, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until softened, about 7 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and add the minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir in the chopped fresh basil.
  • Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the marinara sauce in the skillet and gently stir to combine. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Serve the baked meatballs with marinara sauce hot, and enjoy!
