Ingredients

  • - 4 slices bacon
  • - ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • - 1 tablespoon honey
  • - 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • - Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • - 1 20 ounce package fresh green peas
  • - 2 stalks celery chopped
  • - ½ cup cubed Cheddar cheese
  • - ⅓ cup chopped onion

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowls

Method

  1. Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels and crumble. Reserve 1 tablespoon bacon grease.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, reserved bacon grease, honey, sugar, salt, and black pepper until the dressing is smooth.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine crumbled bacon, fresh green peas, chopped celery, cubed Cheddar cheese, and chopped onion.
  4. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Refrigerate the salad until chilled, about 30 minutes, before serving.

Notes

- Adjust the amount of honey and sugar according to your desired level of sweetness.
- You can add other vegetables or ingredients like bell peppers or hard-boiled eggs for extra flavor and texture.
- Make sure to chill the salad before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
