  • 1 9-inch 9-inch deep-dish pie crust (pre-baked) Pre-baked crust
  • 6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled Cook until crispy
  • 1 cup sweet onion, thinly sliced Caramelized for flavor
  • 2 cups fresh tomatoes, diced Use ripe tomatoes for best flavor
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., sharp cheddar or mozzarella) Select your preferred type of cheese
  • 3 large eggs Whisk together with cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream Adds richness to the filling
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust seasoning as desired
  • Fresh herbs (optional, e.g., basil or thyme) For garnish and added flavor

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy, then remove and crumble.
  • In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and sauté until caramelized.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper.
  • Arrange the caramelized onions, diced tomatoes, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheese in the pre-baked pie crust.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the filling until just covered.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm, sliced into wedges. Pairs well with a simple green salad or some crusty bread. For variation, you can make a vegetarian version by omitting the bacon and using extra vegetables.
