Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, applesauce, and oil until well combined.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, sugars, baking soda, baking powder, and spices.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Don’t overmix!
- Divide the batter evenly between your prepared pans.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in their pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
- In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and cinnamon, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
- Frost the cooled cakes and layer them if desired.
