Preparation and Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the applesauce, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vegetable oil, and eggs until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Making the Frosting
- While the cake bakes, make the cinnamon cream cheese frosting. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract and cinnamon.
Assembly
- Once the cake has cooled completely, spread the cream cheese frosting over the top.
