  • 4 large Honeycrisp Apples, cubed
  • 1 medium lemon, juiced To prevent browning of the apples.
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 2 ribs celery, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes, halved
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans Can substitute with walnuts or almonds.
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries Can be replaced with raisins or fresh blueberries.

Preparation

  • Toss the cubed apples with the lemon juice in a large bowl to prevent browning.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add the apple mixture, celery, grapes, pecans, and dried cranberries to the mayo mixture.
  • Stir gently to coat all ingredients evenly.
  • Cover the salad and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Apple salad is best served chilled. You can enjoy it on its own or serve it as an accompaniment to grilled meats or sandwiches. Garnish with a few whole pecans or apple slices for an extra touch.
