Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 can Apple pie filling
  • 12 pieces Individually wrapped caramels
For the Dough
  • 1 can Biscuit dough Refrigerated dough is recommended
For the Coating
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon
For Frying
  • 2.5 quarts Vegetable oil For frying

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Pour about two and a half quarts of vegetable oil into a heavy skillet and heat over medium heat.
  2. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until uniform; set aside.
  3. Open the biscuit dough and flatten each biscuit into a thick disc, about three inches wide.
  4. Place one tablespoon of apple pie filling and two caramel halves in the center of each disc.
  5. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal completely.
  6. Roll each filled biscuit into a smooth ball.
Cooking
  1. Fry up to two balls at a time in the hot oil, rolling them continuously for even browning, until golden brown.
  2. Remove from oil and roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  3. Set on a cooling rack to firm up slightly.
  4. Enjoy warm, with additional caramel sauce or whipped cream if desired.

Notes
