Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- If using store-bought crusts, let them thaw. For homemade, roll out your dough and fit it into your pie dish.
Filling Preparation
- In a bowl, mix sliced apples with sugar, flour (or cornstarch), cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well-coated.
Assembly
- Pour the apple mixture into the crust-lined pie dish. Dot the top with small pats of butter.
Covering
- Place the second crust over the filling. Seal and flute the edges. Make a few slits on top for steam to escape, then brush with egg wash and sprinkle coarse sugar if desired.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for 15 minutes.
- Lower the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 35-45 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
Cooling and Serving
- Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes
Apple pie is best served warm, but it’s equally delightful at room temperature. Pair with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an indulgent treat. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
