Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter until smooth, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples and pecans.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool before drizzling with caramel sauce.
Serving
- Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream on top.
