Ingredients
  

For the apple filling
  • 8 medium medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced Choose a mix of sweet and tart apples.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
For the topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, melted

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, ground cinnamon, and salt. Toss until the apples are well coated.
  3. Pour in the water and mix thoroughly. Transfer the apple mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Stir until mixed.
  5. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture turns crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the crumbly topping evenly over the apple filling in the baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes
