Method

Preparation
  1. In a small saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped apples, light brown sugar, and half a teaspoon of vanilla and cinnamon. Sauté until the apples are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Mixing Dry Ingredients
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, baking powder, kosher salt, ground cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Set aside.
Creaming Butter and Sugars
  1. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and dark brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
Adding Eggs and Vanilla
  1. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
Combine and Bake
  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Stir in the sautéed apples.
  2. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and spread evenly. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Prepare the Maple Glaze
  1. While the brownies are baking, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan. Stir in maple syrup, powdered sugar, and a pinch of pumpkin pie spice until smooth.
Glaze and Cool
  1. Once the brownies are removed from the oven and slightly cooled, drizzle the maple glaze generously over the top.
  2. Let the brownies cool completely before cutting into squares. Enjoy!
