Ingredients
- 2 skinless and boneless chicken breasts
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Peanut oil or canola oil
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk the egg and stir in the milk. Trim any fat away from the chicken breasts and cut them into bite-size pieces. Place the chicken in the milk mixture, ensuring it's well covered. Allow it to marinate in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours.
- In a gallon-size resealable baggie, combine the flour, powdered sugar, salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using). Seal the bag and shake well to combine.
- Heat about 2 inches of oil in a medium deep pot over medium-high heat. If using a thermometer, heat the oil until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- Remove the marinated chicken from the milk mixture and place it in the flour mixture in the baggie. Seal the bag and shake until the chicken pieces are completely coated with the flour mixture.
- Carefully place about 6-8 coated chicken nuggets into the hot oil and let them cook until golden brown, turning halfway through once the edges of the chicken start to turn white. This usually takes a couple of minutes on each side.
- Once cooked, remove the nuggets from the oil and drain them on a paper towel. Repeat this process until all nuggets are cooked.
