Ingredients
  

Mushrooms and Coating
  • 500 g 500g fresh mushrooms (white button or cremini) Mixing varieties can add depth.
  • 3 tbsp 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted Can substitute with olive oil or vegan butter.
  • 3 cloves 3 cloves garlic, minced finely
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp olive oil (optional) For added richness.
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • ½ tsp ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp dried thyme (or 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves)
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp dried parsley (or 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped)
  • ½ tsp ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional) Adds depth.
  • ½ lemon Juice of ½ lemon (optional) For brightness.
Optional Additions
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese For a cheesy, golden crust.
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce For extra umami.
  • to taste Chili flakes For a little heat.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Begin by wiping the mushrooms clean with a damp cloth or paper towel. Avoid soaking them in water to prevent sogginess. If any stems look tough, trim them. For larger mushrooms, slice them in half or quarters.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, thyme, parsley, and paprika. If you are adding lemon juice or soy sauce, mix it in now for an extra flavor punch.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, toss the cleaned mushrooms with the garlic butter mixture, ensuring each mushroom is well coated.
Cooking
  1. Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Preheating is crucial for that golden, crispy texture.
  2. Lay the mushrooms in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding—work in batches if necessary. Cook for 10–12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  3. When the mushrooms are golden brown and have crispy edges with tender centers, transfer them to a serving dish. For a lovely touch, sprinkle with fresh parsley and Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve hot!
