Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined (medium to large size)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko recommended for extra crunch)
  • 1/2 cup flour (use gluten-free flour to make this gluten-free)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooking spray, as needed

Method

Preparation
  1. Thaw shrimp completely if frozen, then pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour seasoned lightly with salt and pepper, one with beaten eggs, and one with Panko mixed with garlic powder and paprika.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Dredge each shrimp in flour, shake off excess, dip into the beaten eggs, then press into the Panko to fully coat.
  2. Arrange shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Don’t overcrowd—work in batches if needed.
  3. Lightly spray the shrimp with cooking spray to promote browning.
  4. Air fry at 400°F for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the coating is golden and the shrimp are opaque and firm.
Serving
  1. Remove shrimp promptly to avoid carryover cooking. Serve hot with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or your favorite aioli.

Notes

Panko gives the crispiest coating; for a spicy kick, add cayenne or smoked paprika. Use egg substitute for a vegan-friendly option.
